How are you all doing? If you are like me, you are getting your last holiday gifts purchased and mailed off. It has been really exciting to plan actual gatherings with friends and family after the last few years of isolation. Still being careful with masks and hygiene, but I am no longer as fearful as I once was. I credit the vaccine.
As we round out this year, I thought it would be good time to revisit and reflect on my goals (if you want to read the original post) and see how I did this year. From my Word of the Year and all of those ambitious things I wanted to strive for, it is a good time to see how well I stayed on track.
Up for a quick trip down memory lane?
Here we go!
My 2021 Goals
-
Be intentional with my engagement with social media.
Well, I am still off of Facebook personally and am trying to decide on my engagement strategy going forward this year. I really have a love/hate relationship with Facebook/Instagram, but appreciate that it is easy for so many across the globe to connect. I would love to hear from you about how you most like engaging with me. Where would you like me to be? Do you like these newsletters?
-
Be more intentional with connecting with those I care about.
I feel like I made incremental progress here, but not nearly where I want to be.
This is definitely an area that I have been really intentional with. I am much more thoughtful about where and how I spend my time. I have really worked on NOT feeling guilty saying no to things when I am tired or only doing it to make someone else happy. This is a lesson from the pandemic that I intend to keep as long as possible.
-
Less TV and more music & nature.
Unfortunately, I can’t say that I was as good about this one as I should have been. Music was more present, but I need more focus on getting outside and away from ALL of my screens.
-
Continued mindfulness practice.
I have not been consistent here and feel it in my daily activities. When on practice, I am calmer and more focused. Ironically, I have resumed my knitting hobby which I find very calming and somewhat meditative. I may not get all of the same benefits, but might actually get a sweater out of it. I totally see this returning on my 2022 list.
-
Really embrace rest without guilt.
So, I was sporadically good at this one. For those of you who really know me, I know I need to work on my consistency.
Well, there you have it. A nice look back at my goals. This exercise is so important in helping me realize where I have made true gains when I really felt like I hadn’t. Truthfully, I did better than I thought and now have a better sense of where I still have work to do.
I would give myself a solid B-. Not bad but absolute room for improvement.
I also have been thinking about my 2021 Word of the Year – Intentional. In doing this reflection, I can definitely where I was much more mindful and intentional with my actions – even when it wasn’t tied to a goal above. Again, there is still work to be done but much to be proud of.
All growth is a journey. Some days are steps forward. Some days, we fall back. The important thing is to not give up. We can always try again. No matter what.
What’s next?
I am working on my 2022 Goals and my Word of the Year! I will be sharing those with you all really soon. I would love for you to join me this year. These are much more powerful when others join in. We can support each other.
Are you in?!?
I would love to hear about your 2021 reflections. Feel free to reply to this and let me know.
Don’t forget to get started on your 2022 goals! We are going to be talking about that more in the weeks to come.
Until next time…
Kimberly
